Clinical or Counselling Psychologist - Swindon

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist within the team with the possibility of a preceptorship (please contact us to discuss further). You will be part of our Swindon Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The service is designed to provide young people and families with expert help. You will have a particular focus around providing psychology input into our Specialist Eating Disorder Service (TEDS) and you will also be part of the wider multi-disciplinary CAMHS service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, personable, and resourceful individual who is committed to supporting developing services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, and a keenness to be part of a busy and vibrant pathway.
You can expect a comprehensive induction programme, including a range of shadowing opportunities to fully support you in the role, ongoing in-house training and opportunities to attend external trainings. The team fully supports and delivers regular managerial, professional, peer, clinical, and safeguarding supervision to build upon confidence, competence, and commitment to developing self and the role.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining the Getting More Help Pathway within Swindon, a rapidly evolving service which is committed to adapting to meet diverse and challenging demands and to maintaining high quality specialist assessment and intervention whilst being mindful of throughput, innovation and efficiencies.
This is an exciting post and would suit someone who has experience in working with people with an Eating Disorder and someone who is keen to develop wider skills working with young people with a wide range of mental health needs.

Job responsibilities
To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality specialist psychology service to clients with complex mental health problems including severe, enduring and multiple disorders, and challenging behaviour. To offer consultation and supervision, and support the work of other team members and psychology clinical team members providing psychologically based care and treatment, according to expertise. To provide training placements for Doctoral Trainee psychologists, a range of qualified and unqualified staff across mental health areas, as agreed. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, and contribute to research and training within the areas served by the teams and service. To be involved in service developments, as appropriate.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current registration with the HCPC as a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology including specifically models of psychopathology and psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
* Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
* Additional training in an eating disorders specific intervention, such as FBT, FT-AN, CBT-E, CBT-T
Experience
* Experience of working as a qualified clinical / counselling psychologist within CAMHS.
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse.
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of CAMHS clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
* Experience of working with eating disorders
* Knowledge of and experience in the theory and practice of specialized psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups, including eating disorders
Contractual or other requirements
* Ability to travel between bases and within the community as required for the post.
