This Project Delivery role is an excellent opportunity to join our Collections Care team and learn how to carry out a range of core museum tasks in a national museum. Project Delivery Assistants are responsible for the accurate location and movement of objects using barcode technology. The team handles, moves and documents the vast range of objects IWM cares for.
In this fixed-term role, you will contribute to our Visual Documentation Project, focused on hazardous and licensed collections. You will work as part of a team to mark, label and visually document through photography these important collections. In doing so you will enhance the accountability and digital accessibility of these objects.
Please note, the role is a Fixed-Term Contract of 7 months and based full-time on-site at IWM London. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to taking up the position.
Key duties
1. Working as part of a team to mark, label and visually document hazardous and licensed objects in IWM’s collection, thereby enhancing the accountability and digital accessibility of these important collections.
2. Full training will be provided in how to access, handle, condition check, mark and use such collections safely, and with strict observance of legislative requirements. You will work with experienced IWM staff who will ensure your safety.
The Work Will Include
1. Marking and labelling objects, including with an object barcode label.
2. Updating record data in our Collections Management System Axiell Collections, to ensure they meet our procedural standards.
3. Photographing objects, ensuring image files are then prepared for ingest to our CMS.
