Lancashire County Council is seeking to appoint an Inclusion Engagement Support Team Manager to join their Inclusion Service (Specialist Teaching Service - STS). The successful candidate would be expected to work across Lancashire supporting children with SEND, educational settings, and their families.
The Specialist Teaching Service is a specialist peripatetic teaching service that supports the local Authority and Lancashire Settings and Schools in meeting the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The service consists of Specialist Teaching Teams, highly qualified and experienced Specialist Teachers, Inclusion Teachers, Specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistants, Learning Mentors, Deaf Role Models, and Sensory Technicians. We work closely with parents and other agencies to support children and young people in a range of settings including at home, early years settings, schools, and colleges.
The Inclusion Engagement Support Team is well-established across Lancashire, and this position is available due to securing permanent funding for the team who have been working to support mainstream inclusion within schools since September 2021. The team consists of 5 skilled and highly qualified Inclusion Teachers and 9 experienced Learning Mentors who work with mainstream schools to promote inclusive practice and prevent exclusion. This is an exciting opportunity to drive forward service development and shape what this service offers moving forwards. In addition, the Team Manager will contribute to panel decisions for children and young people submitting requests for statutory assessment.
The role will consist of:
* Working alongside Team Managers across the service.
* Contributing to strategic developments of the Specialist Teaching Service alongside Senior Management.
* Managing effective allocations and caseloads of the Specialist Teachers within the team while undertaking a reduced caseload themselves.
* Utilising effective monitoring strategies and systems to support service development and effectiveness.
* A willingness to explore creative solutions and streamlining service options utilising new developments such as AI technology.
* Being accountable for service delivery and staff development within the Inclusion Engagement Support Team.
* Contributing to wider strategic Specialist Teaching Service developments through STS manager meetings and supervision.
* Supporting children, young people, and parents/carers with SEND, specifically social, emotional mental health needs.
* Liaising with a range of school and external professionals where necessary and appropriate.
* Assessing children and young people to ensure appropriate outcomes are set.
* Working in partnership with settings, parents & carers, and other agencies to meet the outcomes outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans.
* Managing a caseload effectively.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Specialist Teaching Service Inclusion Engagement Support Team Manager who will contribute to the key work of the Specialist Teaching Service by:
* Demonstrating moral SEND values with the vision and determination to make a difference.
* Demonstrating a commitment to inclusive education approaches.
* Demonstrating a strong leadership approach through essential management and leadership experience.
* Working closely with other Team Managers, contributing to whole-service developments and being accountable for improving outcomes for children and young people.
* The successful candidate will be a Qualified Teacher who has successfully completed their statutory induction.
* An additional SEND or leadership qualification would be desirable.
* Showing evidence of experience of working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs to ensure they receive a high-quality educational experience that meets their needs.
* Being able to work collaboratively with children receiving SEN support or those with EHCPs, their families, and settings.
* Providing support and challenge to schools, establishing clear actions for all partners, and evaluating the progress being made against these.
* Confidently modeling teaching approaches to school staff to raise standards for children with SEND.
We can offer:
* An opportunity to join a friendly professional team committed to raising standards across education for children and young people with SEND.
* A supportive senior manager who can offer guidance and professional development in your new role.
* Experienced staff who can offer support as you develop your role.
* Professional development opportunities in line with service development.
In return, Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, which can be found on the LCC Vacancies website.
