An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Locum Consultant to work in Haematology and join our team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
This position will be based at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, with the expectation of working across two hospital sites.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be undertaking inpatient and outpatient work and is encouraged to develop their own sub-specialty interest. Applications are encouraged from experienced locum consultants or newly accredited consultants who will be supported through our highly regarded development programmes.
The department includes dedicated ANPs for Haematology, a Haematology specialist nurse, and facilities for chemotherapy and day case treatments.
Job Responsibilities
This is a Full Time post providing 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), but applicants wishing to work part-time are also encouraged to apply, with job plans adjusted accordingly.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MRCP or equivalent
* Specialist registration for Haematology is preferred (or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees)
* Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise
Experience and Achievements
* High level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Haematology specialty
* Significant experience in minor procedures
* Understanding of current issues within the wider NHS
* Attendance at a recognised management course
* Ability to work with and lead others across professions
Teaching and Training
* Experience and enthusiasm for clinical teaching
* Academic achievements or familiarity with research methods
* Training in clinical and educational supervision
* Attendance at a teaching course
Audit and Research
* Knowledge of audit principles and evidence of participation in audit projects
* Critical appraisal skills
* Knowledge of research methodology
* Good communication and empathy skills with patients
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to manage high-pressure situations
