The Role
We’re interested in hearing from people who are studying electrics, or already in the field but in a different setting – i.e domestic or theatre. It is essential for you to have the 18th Edition qualification, and overall a strong interest in electrics and TV drama.
Working with our team of electricians, the trainee electrician is shown how the team plans, operates, rig and de-rig electrical equipment, particularly lighting.
Health and safety underpins all decisions regarding electrics; the trainee electrician would see how we assess kit, carry out risk assessments and make sure everything is in proper working order.
Under the guidance of a mentor, the trainee electrician is required to test, clean and repair equipment, as well as programme dimmers and circuit boards, wrap up cables, carry stands and generally support by fetching and carrying equipment.
Are you the right candidate?
To succeed in this trainee role, you will need the following:
1. Ability to carry out electrical installation work in accordance with the current IET Wiring regulations BS7671 18th Edition (Essential)
2. Experience of working with electrics in a domestic environment and/or studying electrics
3. Experience of completing physically demanding tasks, including manual handling and rigging, with the capabilities to work safely at heights
4. Experience and examples of when you have worked in environments where there are conflicting priorities and problems to solve
5. Interest in TV drama including BBC Studios content
Dates
If confirmed, opportunities will last 3 to 6 weeks and run from April to August 2025.
