This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) at either SC Enhanced or DV, before taking up the post. Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK Nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed, the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire SC(E) or DV clearance and meet the nationality requirements, cannot be offered the post. The purpose of this role is to perform a Criminal Intelligence Analyst Role within Police Scotland’s Intelligence Support function undertaking research and analytical assessment on a wide range of data, information and crime intelligence in support of the operational requirements of the unit, division or department as they impact at a tactical, operational or strategic level. The Criminal Intelligence Analyst will provide direct analytical support, to proactive and reactive investigations and policing matters. The support will be in line with agreed terms of reference as managed by the Analyst Co-ordinator and supervised by the Senior Analyst, and will be by way of intelligence development and verbal/written assessments to support strategic, investigative and operational work. The nature of the work will require the production and presentation of evidential material. It is likely that the analyst will be supporting a number of jobs/operations at any one time.
