South Gloucestershire Later Life Locality is committed to providing equitable psychological services for older people and people living with dementia, and their families, carers, and communities.
We are looking for a clinical psychologist to provide highly specialist psychological assessment and interventions, improving access to psychological interventions for older people in line with the Community Mental Health Framework and NHS Long Term Plan for Ageing Well.
The post holder will have the opportunity to work across Later Life Community Services, predominantly based in the Specialist Care Home and Enhanced Dementia Support Team (SCHEDS) and Memory Service. There is an emphasis on working collaboratively with multi-professional colleagues to help develop formulations and support staff to implement psychologically informed interventions for older people experiencing mental health distress and/or neurodegenerative conditions.
The post holder will be part of the South Gloucestershire Psychological Therapies Service and join a well-established Trustwide group of Later Life Clinical Psychologists, which together support access to supervision and CPD. Newly qualified psychologists are encouraged to apply.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the development of equitable and evidence-based psychological services within Later Life. This will include engaging in planning, developing, and delivering individual and group interventions.
The post holder will also offer clinical supervision to trainees and assistant psychologists. Supervision, consultation, teaching, and training of multidisciplinary professionals within the service will be required.
The role will include consultation, teaching, and training across services. Expertise (and/or an interest in developing skills) in neuropsychological assessments and interventions will also be a requirement for this role.
The post holders will be expected to participate in evaluations, audits, and research according to new developments.
