Role Summary
My client is looking to recruit a Workshop Supervisor at their Litchurch Lane location. The role of Workshop Supervisor is to ensure a professional approach to managing the workload within the workshop, coordinating activities to ensure smooth running and that everyone involved in the workshop performs their tasks well and that any issues are dealt with smoothly and effectively.
Main Responsibilities
1. Main point of contact for workshop staff
2. Maintaining a clean and safe workshop
3. Managing and prioritising work to ensure deadlines are met
4. Building good working relationships with the Sales team to be confident enough to advise of slippages in lead times or any issues in a timely manner
5. Regular meetings with the Operations Manager to provide updates on individual operator performance and any additional training that is required
6. Responsible for Health and Safety on the shop floor
7. Input into the training of new starters
8. Provide ideas for and implement continuous improvement ideas for the workshop
9. Have the authority to encourage and reprimand people when required
10. Be a proactive member of the Operations team, solving any problems using initiative and speed
11. Manage the shop floor to drive change, implementing new systems where necessary
12. Execute the Production Plan to ensure adherence to committed lead times
13. Be the interaction between the Operation Manager and the Operatives, working closely together to issue and collate route cards
14. Maintain and control the tooling requirements of all operatives
15. Some knowledge of and appreciation for welding would also be advantageous
Preferred Skills / Experience
1. Full driving license
2. Ability to lead and motivate
3. Organised, with a high level of attention to detail
4. Ability to prioritise workloads and plan accordingly
5. Experience providing updates to internal stakeholders
6. Experience implementing 5S/continuous improvement strategies
7. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and keep records
8. A safety-conscious approach to work, the ability to work alone and as part of a team
