The Head of Resource and Work Planning within SP Distribution is responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplined team building and delivering the rolling 3 month district work programme, ensuring maximum productivity, effective planning of direct resources whilst integrating all concurrent activities to maximise outage value.
What you’ll be doing
1. Develop and maintain a robust and co-ordinated direct resource plan over a 3-month horizon, which integrates and prioritises the requirements of outage management, customer service, regulatory outputs, incentive mechanisms and health and safety legislation.
2. Embrace and integrate asset stewardship values through effective delivery and associated data capture.
3. Lead and drive continual performance improvement to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of system performance targets, management of system integrity and delivery of maintenance, construction and connections outputs.
4. Deliver district resource plan outputs derived from financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst maximising return through incentive mechanisms, integrating and prioritising the requirements of outage management, customer service and health and safety legislation.
5. Drive improvements in and accurately report on direct resource performance outputs relating to Customer Service, Productivity & Availability, Unit Cost and Health, Safety & Environment.
6. Compliance with IBE/SPEN processes and procedures in line with business codes of practice.
7. Develop and promote an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all design/planning activities.
8. Lead and manage teams to ensure each individual’s potential is fully developed and inspire a culture that ensures the delivery of business outputs.
9. Develop formal resource training plan and lead liaison with L&D/HR to manage booking and delivery of training requirements for the team.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for an individual with:
1. Proven experience of managing, motivating, coaching and developing teams, utilising appropriate HR frameworks within a unionised environment.
2. Expert planning and programme management skills and ability to match manpower requirements to future business needs.
3. Ability to manage competing priorities using sound judgement to determine options and solutions.
4. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with capability to manage and influence challenging discussions and situations.
5. Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
6. Understanding key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SP is operating.
7. Proven regulatory and commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer service, operational delivery and financial performance.
To be successful, as a minimum you will demonstrate:
1. Planning/Professional qualification or equivalent experience
2. Proven experience in a comparable managerial and planning role
3. Computer literacy
