Employment Law Solicitor
Location: Bedford
Salary: Full or Part Time £43,000 - £49,000 (pro rata)
We're recruiting for an experienced Employment Solicitor with around 3 years or more PQE experience. Someone who can demonstrate an understanding of what their clients are hoping to achieve, plan strategically and apply the law with accuracy.
The firm is a small (but expanding), forward-thinking law firm providing high-quality employment law services. They provide advice on all aspects of employment law to employees and employers. The businesses they advise range from micro-businesses to large companies with UK branches. A collaborative firm that welcomes ideas from the team. This role will see you working closely with all departments, including their Principal Solicitor.
The ideal candidate would have:
1. Experience representing both employees and employers in contentious and non-contentious matters.
2. A working knowledge of the law on restrictive covenants, unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, whistleblowing, and TUPE.
3. Experience preparing contracts of employment and staff handbooks.
4. Experience advising on settlement agreements.
5. Good computer skills, and familiarity with using Microsoft365, Clio or similar software.
6. Prepared ET1, ET3, particulars of claim, and grounds of resistance.
7. Appeared at the Employment Tribunal, at least on preliminary matters.
8. The ability to progress every matter and keep clients up to date using excellent communication skills.
9. Provide clear information on fees throughout, to help clients keep control of their costs.
Package:
1. Salary range £43,000 to £49,000 (pro rata if part-time).
2. 25 days annual leave + bank holidays.
3. No unreasonable daily billing hours or expectations to work over paid hours.
4. Flexible hours: Happy to hear from part-time and full-time applicants. We will discuss working hours with the right candidate to find an arrangement that suits you and the firm.
5. Role is based in our Bedford Office.
