We are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice in the Luton region who is passionate about engineering and wants to join a multinational engineering company.
At Jungheinrich we pride ourselves on having the most highly trained engineers within the material handling industry, so we are looking for high calibre trainees to join our Engineering Apprenticeship Programme. The apprenticeship offers a three-and-a-half-year training programme.
We maintain a wide range of equipment from basic manually operated pallet trucks, up to highly complex, fully automated storage and retrieval systems, all on behalf of our customers who are at the heart of our operation.
What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships combine hands-on job training with academic study, allowing individuals to learn a role while completing a nationally recognised programme. There is no age limit to completing an Apprenticeship in the UK.

What are we looking for?
Above all else you must have a passion for engineering. You need to be motivated and committed to succeed on the Apprenticeship Programme by demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop as you will be taking instruction throughout the three-year programme.
Being an engineer in Jungheinrich will require you to engage with our customers on a daily basis so you will need to have good verbal and listening skills as well as coming across in a confident manner with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Finally, you will need exceptional IT skills and be able to work as part of a team to give a great service to our customers.
Your Qualifications:
* Must have GCSE* grade 9 – 4 (A* - C) in Maths
* Must have GCSE* grade 9 – 4 (A* - C) in English
* Must have GCSE* grade 9 – 4 (A* - C) in three other subjects
Mobility Requirements:
A full UK drivers’ licence is required for this apprenticeship.
Core Skills:
A Technician will apply their knowledge of plant and systems to safely perform maintenance and operational activities with minimum supervision. This will require them to:
* Comply with industry health, safety and environmental working practices and regulations.
* Locate and rectify faults on plant and equipment.
* Communicate with and provide information to stakeholders in line with personal role and responsibilities.
* Read, understand and interpret information and work in compliance with technical specifications and supporting documentation.
* Prepare work areas to undertake work related activities and reinstate those areas after the completion of the work-related activities.
* Inspect and maintain appropriate plant and equipment to meet operational requirements.
* Assess and test the performance and condition of plant and equipment.
* Communicate, handover and confirm that the appropriate engineering process has been completed to specification.
A reasonable amount of travel to and from SMB College will be expected, and you may be required to work at different locations from time to time. All travel to and from college will be fully funded, with allocated time provided for attendance during college block weeks. We take great pride in offering this level of support as an integral part of our apprenticeship programme. You will study to gain the Level 3 apprenticeship standard: Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician, with the end goal of becoming a fully qualified Jungheinrich Engineer.
