What you’ll do:
1. Accountable for achieving Production targets and meeting schedules. Monitor and drive key performance indicators on cost, quality and delivery. Address performance issues as they arise working with the Manufacturing Engineering Department, Production Build Groups, Supply Chain, Sub Assembly Suppliers and the Quality Department to keep Production on plan.
2. Departmental responsibility for KPI performance on Productivity, Efficiency, 5S, Quality.
3. Coordinate the manufacture of major sub-assemblies by Aggreko personnel, on-site subcontractors and subcontracting companies (Including the assembly of electrical panels). Assume responsibility for ensuring that these sub-assemblies are ready to plan and the defined quality and cost performance is achieved.
4. Monitor the work of the sub-contractors and deal with any queries they may have during manufacture. Channel queries to other Aggreko Manufacturing departments as appropriate, including Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Purchasing.
5. Performance and conflict management. Recruitment to meet labour requirements for Production plan. Remuneration decisions. Absence and holiday management. Staff appraisal and identification of training needs.
6. Manage and recruit the resources required to ensure we have the headcount and skills balance to deliver the Production plan. Departmental skills and capability assessment and development.
7. Lead Shift Start Up, Production Schedule and Production Quality meetings for your department. Communicate status and/or constraints across Production sections and internally across functions. Communicate externally with subcontract services as required.
8. Support technical problem solving engaging with support provided from other functions. Assess risks to the Production plan and escalate issues to Production Manager as required.
9. Support the resolution of line stop issues ensuring appropriate action is taken to prevent a re-occurrence. Drive any rework programs established from Engineering Change management.
10. Co-ordination of Production support systems including ERP, CSB (HR Management), Daily Build Schedules, Holiday & Absence Management, Sub Assembly Planning reports etc.
11. Communicate progress and issues to Operations Manager. Deputise for Operations Manager in his/her absence.
Health & Safety
1. Member of the site Health and Safety committee. Active participant on Accident Prevention forum.
2. Support the investigation of all accidents and near misses associated with your department. Liaise with H&S manager to ensure risk assessments and corrective actions are completed.
3. Support H&S manager in development and maintenance of Best Operating Practices (BOPs).
4. All Health and Safety aspects of site risk management.
5. Driving and managing area safety audits – both personal and team accountability.
6. Support the investigation of all environmental incidents and near misses. Liaise with facilities manager to ensure risk assessments and corrective actions are completed.
Continuous Improvement
1. Direct and allocate support to CI initiatives.
2. Determine CI initiatives which would drive improved cost, quality and delivery performance with areas of ownership.
3. Assume a lead role in Process Improvement teams. Support and manage pilot programmes. Implement improved processes into the section. Accountable for implementing and embedding change in the section.
4. Ensure compliance with new processes and procedures implemented by CI improvement teams.
5. Ensure areas of responsibility are managed in line with QMS procedures.
6. Lead small scale projects within section e.g. 5S, H&S, workplace organisation. Ensure BOPs (Best Operating Practices) are updated and team trained.
7. Deliver resource for NPI plans. Set up systems to monitor and manage to cost, quality and delivery targets for new products.
You’ll have the following skills and experience:
1. SVQ Level III in a People / Business Management discipline preferred.
2. Mechanical / Electrical Engineering Qualifications through an apprenticeship program or learning institute desirable.
3. Staff management experience in a Production environment.
4. Experience in the assembly and Testing of Electro/Mechanical products.
5. Experience in asset lifecycle repair & refurbishment.
6. Good knowledge of ISO9001, 14001 and 18001 Quality and EH&S management systems.
7. Self-motivated individual with a positive and flexible attitude to change.
8. Good interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with other departments.
