As a wholly owned subsidiary of Wrexham University, GIL, based at the OpTIC Centre in St Asaph, specializes in delivering high-specification, large-aperture optical systems and components. A vacancy has arisen for an Optical Polisher who has a passion and hands-on experience of mechanical engineering and/or CNC processing to join the Wales technology award-winning precision optical systems manufacture and design team based at the OpTIC Technology Centre in St Asaph which forms part of the Wrexham University campus network.
The vacancy offers the successful applicant the opportunity to:
1. Join a small, initiative-taking and skilled team where independent thought and self-motivation are encouraged.
2. Work both independently and as part of a team to manufacture and integrate high-end optical components, working alongside experienced optical systems design and test engineers to deliver leading edge low volume high technology systems and components.
The successful candidate will work within the polishing team developing and executing precision polishing methods for large scale complex optical surfaces. They will be expected to have a flexible approach to their working hours including regular shift work when the business demands.
