Full job description
Responsibilities:
1. Checking and dispensing medicines and collection of prescription charges.
2. Generating repeat prescriptions.
3. Ordering stock and managing deliveries.
4. Preparation of Nomad packs and Dossett boxes.
5. Dealing with general enquiries in person and on the phone.
6. Ensuring relevant vaccine/PA searches are conducted as required and ensuring end of month claim is completed.
7. Endorsing and collating prescription forms.
8. Implementing efficient ordering and return processes and reducing medication wastage.
9. Cost control and ensuring purchases are within Drug Tariffs.
10. Liaising with pharmaceutical company representatives to ensure that the best discounts are achieved for the Practice.
11. Supporting the Patient Services team and clinical pharmacy team in streamlining general prescription requests.
12. Drafting and updating as necessary, SOPs for all dispensary tasks.
13. Leading on MHRA drug alerts and recording relevant details to comply with CQC guidance.
14. Ensuring local DSQs are completed by the team.
15. Liaising with GPs and clinicians to integrate the dispensary into the surgery.
16. Attendance at appropriate monthly meetings.
17. Organising staff rotas and holiday schedules to ensure that the dispensary is adequately staffed at all times.
18. Allocating roles and ensuring that the team are working productively to cover the various aspects of the service.
19. Providing training and support on the legal, safe and secure handling of medicines, including the implementation of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
20. Arranging staff training and involvement in staff appraisals.
21. Supporting the practice multi-disciplinary team to ensure efficient medicines optimisation processes are being followed.
22. Developing relationships with other pharmacy professionals and members of the multidisciplinary team.
23. Supporting the practice to deliver on QIPP agenda, DSQs and locally commissioned enhanced services where appropriate.
24. Supporting the practice in reviewing and developing relevant policies for CQC requirements.
25. Attending and participating in Practice meetings as required.
26. Participating in training and CPD.
