Ach-an-Eas care home is run and managed by NHS Highland, it has capacity to provide a care service for a maximum of, 17 adults over 65, 4 intermediate care beds and 2 respite beds. The building was formerly a large, family house and has been adapted and extended for its present use. Accommodation is on two floors with lift access. The home is situated in large, pleasant grounds, convenient to the city centre. The home is comfortably appointed and very well maintained, both indoors and outdoors, with walkways and ramps for wheelchair access. All bedrooms are of single occupancy with en-suite facilities. The most recent care inspectorate report was good, highlighting that staff provide kind and respectful care, and developed meaningful relationships with people.
We are looking for an experienced care home manager for this full time permanent position. As the home manger you would be expected to provide, strong leadership, management, and coaching skills. Communication skills are vital as is the ability to demonstrate empathy, engage team members, and work with families and residents alike.
Requirements for the post:
1. The minimum qualification requirement is SVQ 4 Health and Social Care, but registration is also possible for those holding recognised teaching, social work, nursing and AHP qualifications, normally at degree level. Possession of SVQ Leadership and Management for Care Services (LMCS) Level 4 (or an equivalent management qualification or award) is also required for registration.
2. Proven management experience at a similar level and established leadership skills to manage a large team. (Relevant experience as a registered care home manager is desirable)
3. Evidence of teaching and assessing within the care environment.
4. Effective multi-tasking and prioritization
5. Good understanding of IT systems
6. You will be up to date with current evidence-based practice and have a working knowledge of CI Standards and Regulations
7. The ability to work using your initiative, making effective decisions to improve care quality
8. Knowledge and understanding of community integrated working
9. The ability to enhance relationships with primary, secondary and third sector partners
