About the Role:
As a Tunnel Method Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing optimized construction solutions for major infrastructure projects in transport and energy. Your expertise will support both the site team and the wider methods engineering team in creating innovative construction methodologies. This role is perfect for someone passionate about advancing their technical engineering knowledge while working on a variety of high-profile projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-construction Design and Methods Development: Assist in the development of construction sequencing and methodology.
Temporary Works Integration: Apply sound engineering principles to integrate temporary and permanent works designs.
Logistics Strategies: Create and implement logistics plans to support construction methods.
Collaboration: Work with a diverse group of specialists on multiple projects.
Cost and Carbon Estimates: Develop estimates for both cost and carbon impacts of the works.
Modern Methods of Construction: Champion the use of modern construction techniques to enhance productivity.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with the project.
Training and Development: Contribute to the training of the Methods Engineering Team and broader business units.
Digital Tools Implementation: Utilize BIM and other digital tools for improved pre-construction and delivery processes.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
Experience in complex project environments at the Site Engineer / Section Engineer level.
Comprehensive knowledge of construction methodologies and project planning.
Familiarity with industry-standard safe systems of work.
Comfortable working with digital models and modern construction methods.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
Desirable:
Previous tunnel construction experience.
Progress toward professional accreditation in Civil Engineering.
Ability to work across multiple projects and challenge conventional approaches to construction.
