Technical Author

Rate: £50 - £60 p/h (inside IR35)

Our client has been a leader in advanced system integration for decades; optimising efficiency & delivering performance on a massive scale within the Nuclear sector.
They currently require a Technical Author to join their team based in Reading and support on a variety of Electrical Engineering projects. Within this role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation related to their electrical engineering projects. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering concepts and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
Responsibilities:
Develop, organize, and write user guides, manuals, and other technical documentation for electrical engineering projects.
Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to gather and interpret technical information.
Review and edit documentation for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
Create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to enhance the understanding of technical content.
Maintain a library of technical documentation and update it as necessary to reflect new developments and changes.
Ensure all documentation is accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Adhere to relevant document standards and regulations ensuring Life Time Quality records and kept up dated.
Will be site based 5 days a week working as part of a team on a critical contract.
Essential Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field.
Proven experience in technical writing, preferably in the field of electrical engineering.
Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and terminology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in using documentation software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and CAD tools.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Desirable Requirements:
Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or similar.
Experience with content management systems and technical communication tools.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electrical engineering documentation.
