Clinical Fellow in Medical Education

This is an exciting post that is designed for a FY3/CT1-2/ST1-2 level trainee to develop and expand skills and practice in Medical Education.
For August 2025, 4 roles are available in Medical Education which can either be full time or part time.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The job will allow the successful post holder to undertake focused training in Medical Education. During this time the following requirements should be met.
The prime focus is on supporting medical students on placement from The University of Liverpool and Lancaster University to meet their clinical curriculum standards.
You will be required to work with the Educational Lead for specific areas to ensure robust planning of the clinical placement and take an active role in the development of the timetables.
There will be a focus on supporting the Educational Lead and Undergraduate Team in providing robust Induction programmes for all medical students joining the Trust.
Regular facilitation of timetabled bedside teaching sessions for students within your remit.
To provide support for students in the clinical area where necessary and conduct in-situ welfare catch ups on a regular basis.
Marking of histories/clerking within the relevant student e-portfolio and provide feedback as necessary within the appropriate time frame.
In addition, there will be a focus on simulation support for the multi-professional teaching programme which includes Locally Employed Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Physician Associates.
To support de-brief sessions, coffee and cake sessions and notify the Undergraduate Team of any concerns relating to student feedback.
To attend regular meetings within the Undergraduate Department as required and meet with the Undergraduate ADME alongside individual Educational Supervisors.
The postholder will be expected to learn about synthesis of existing evidence, development of new programmes including assessment of impact of that programme and its sustainability.
Research and develop at least one educational initiative.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB)
* Completion of Foundation equivalent (FACD or equivalent) and 2 further years at ST1/2 level with evidence of satisfactory progress appropriate to level of training, in an appropriate specialty.
* Completion of appropriate Royal college exams for that level of training in that specialty.
Experience & Knowledge
* Established record of teaching and interest in education
* Evidence of completion/finishing in audits or research projects
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
