An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational, dynamic and enthusiastic Band 7 Occupational Therapist for the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) Integrated Autism Service (IAS) Team. The Team are shortly moving to a new base at Ysbyty George Thomas in Treorchy but cover the whole of CTM Health Board.
The Integrated Autism Service (IAS) offers diagnostic assessment for adults and direct support for autistic adults and their parent/carers. The service also offers professional consultation, joint working, training, advice and support to all sectors who support autistic people.
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner responsible for managing their own workload in a manner that complies with NICE guidance principles, professional conduct standards and legislative requirements around neurodevelopmental services.
For the right candidate, full training for diagnostic assessment will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The IAS offers diagnostic assessment of autism in adults and time-limited post-diagnostic interventions for autistic adults and their families (who do not meet eligibility criteria for Secondary Care Mental Health and/or Learning Disability services). The service also offers professional consultation and engagement with every sector, in addition to delivering training around autism.
The post holder will undertake and/or contribute to adult diagnostic assessments and in partnership with other team members, develop and implement highly specialist interventions for autistic adults and their families.
The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with existing teams to strengthen relationships, co-produce resources, develop transition arrangements and explore opportunities for joint working.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential
* Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* Registered member of the Health & Care Professions Council.
* Post graduate training in ASD including Sensory Integration training to module 2/3.
* Evidence of commitment to CPD.
* Evidence of working at Masters Level.
* Specialist knowledge of legislation, professional assessments and interventions relevant to Occupational Therapy, and children and adults with Autistic spectrum disorder.
* Knowledge and understanding of current agenda for health and social care policy.
* Detailed knowledge and application of principles of clinical governance and risk management.
* Detailed understanding of the principles of partnership working.
* Detailed knowledge of critical appraisal and analytical thought.
* Knowledge of national and professional drivers for service provision for client group e.g. NICE Guidelines.
* An understanding of sensory deficit and sensory adaptation strategies is desirable.
* An awareness of neurodevelopment processes and conditions, including ADHD and dyspraxia.
