The Author will produce assessment material items that are innovative, engaging and accessible to all candidates. The Profile for this task provides details about the specific activities involved.
You will need appropriate subject and assessment expertise within the UK education system, the ability to review material to a specified brief and have a clear understanding of the candidate experience. The ability to use IT systems and applications confidently is essential.
Please note, if you are involved in the production of live material you cannot undertake training development or training delivery tasks for OCR.
When applying for the Author role you need to complete either the question paper task or the NEA task, depending on your preference.
If you are applying for both roles you need to complete both tasks.
Your brief is to produce a selection of question items with a mark scheme for your preferred area(s) of expertise. The question items and the mark scheme must reflect the level of demand, format and style of the sample assessment materials for the relevant unit. You do not need to create an entire paper.
The range and number of question items produced should be appropriate for the unit you are applying for and sufficient to demonstrate your ability to fulfil the author role being applied for.
All question items and stimulus material must be:
* fit for purpose, i.e. valid, reliable, and error free
* consistent with the requirements of the new Cambridge Advanced Nationals specification
* mapped/targeted (as appropriate) to
o performance objectives
o level of demand (low, medium or high)
o specification content reference(s)
* inclusive and engaging
* appropriate and use accessible language
NEA task
Your brief is to produce an assignment scenario/case study for your preferred unit. This must reflect the level of demand, format and style of the sample assessment materials for the relevant unit.
The scenario/case study produced should demonstrate your ability to fulfil the author role being applied for and to create a scenario/case study which is appropriate to the style of the sample assessment material.
Your task must be:
* fit for purpose, i.e. valid, reliable, and error free
* consistent with the requirements of the new Cambridge Advanced Nationals specification
* suitable to be assessed using the assessment criteria in the specification
* inclusive and engaging
* appropriate and use accessible language
