The Mobile Analytical Chemist is a key member of the Regulatory & Quality team within the Mobile Analytical Services (MAS) team. Providing scientific services to customer installations across the UKI, the wider Industrial Gases business, and to external customers.
This diverse Analytical Chemist role requires the provision of Mobile Analytical Services and the associated processes, equipment, and safety and quality management system. It demands the focus of supporting innovative solutions to provide continuous improvement whilst working with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency.
The MAS chemist is a key role within the Mobile Analytical Services team reporting to the Mobile Analytical Services Supervisor. The role provides the analytical operations in accordance with company specifications and standards with particular emphasis on safety.
The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of quality management systems, strong operational/technical knowledge, and experience, and a high level of flexibility to transfer knowledge to all parts of the UKI Industrial Gases business. Good interpersonal and influencing skills will enable strong change management to drive strategic and risk-based improvements.
The MAS Chemist is part of the Mobile Analytical Services (MAS) team, working closely with the most diverse, highly skilled, and specialized workforces within the UKI, comprising of 7 core operational areas (Production, Engineering, Packaged Gases, Distribution, Quality, Scheduling & Planning, Operating Service Center).
The main focus of support is to the UKI3N operational facilities as part of the MAS team of Analytical Chemists supporting the ASU (Bulk Industrial Gases) operations, PG (packaged/cylinder gases) operations, Laboratory analysis, Air Products Projects, and external customers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Degree qualified in chemistry, related subject, or significant relevant experience.
* Valid driver’s license.
* Experience in specialized gas analytical techniques (GC, Mass Spec, etc.).
* Knowledge, experience, and skills to operate within a modern laboratory environment and quality management system.
* High level of safety training & awareness.
* Able to form good working relationships across the whole business and influence individuals to deliver the desired results.
* Be able to work remotely and able to travel.
* Self-motivated independent worker.
* IT literate with experience of Computer Management Systems and Microsoft Office.
