About the Music Department: The Music department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared passion for fostering a love of music in our students. We offer a comprehensive and enriching curriculum that covers a wide range of musical styles and traditions, from classical to contemporary. We encourage students to participate in choirs, orchestras, bands, and chamber groups, and we provide opportunities for solo performances and participation in music festivals and competitions. About the Role: Lead and manage the Music department, providing strategic direction and inspiring a shared vision for musical excellence. Oversee the delivery of a high-quality Music curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, ensuring that it is engaging, challenging, and relevant to our students' needs and aspirations. Lead, motivate, and develop a team of talented music teachers, providing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities. Oversee the organisation and delivery of a diverse program of extracurricular music activities, including ensembles, concerts, and workshops. Foster a love of music in all students, encouraging them to develop their musical talents and appreciate the power of music to enrich their lives. Manage the department's budget and resources effectively. Build strong relationships with parents, external music organisations, and the wider school community. Contribute to the school's strategic development and promote the value of music education. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification. Possesses a degree in Music or a related field. Has a proven track record of successful leadership and management in a music education setting. Demonstrates a passion for music education and a commitment to student success. Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Is confident in building rapport with students, staff, and parents. Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Music and relevant examination specifications. Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
