Software Development Team Leader, Site Services
A Software Development Team Leader, who will help to drive innovation, mentor top talent, and shape the future of our platform with cutting-edge technology.
The Site Services department is responsible for developing, enhancing and supporting our online transactional processes platform. This includes the delivery of real-time content across multiple devices, the sports website, and mobile and tablet products up to and including the processing and settlement of transactions driven from that content.
You will be responsible for building and leading a team of front and backend developers of varying experience and skillsets. You will measure quality and delivery, contribute and drive improvements, whilst ensuring that we remain skilled, engaged and empowered and that our processes and technology are efficient and fit for purpose.
The team operates as a full stack team. Core skills within the team are Golang, Typescript, Kotlin, and Swift. The tech stack also covers SQL, Nodejs, HTML5, and CSS 3.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.
Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience
1. Commercial experience with leading development teams in the delivery of high-quality software applications in client or service-side application development.
2. Passionate about working with technology and software development processes and practices.
3. Experience with Typescript, Golang, or other server-side technologies.
4. Adaptability, with the ability to lead a team to ensure the best outcome for the Business.
5. Experience with mobile technologies.
6. Experience with performance testing.
7. Knowledge of service-oriented architecture.
8. Experience with or exposure to Cloud technologies such as GCP, GKE, or SAAS.
9. Exposure to generative artificial intelligence and large language models.
Main Responsibilities
1. Assisting in driving the provision of a capable, reactive, motivated, and delivery-focused team.
2. Enforcing governance of quality, rules, standards, and processes to ensure solutions meet Business requirements.
3. Ensuring the development process is conducted in a timely fashion.
4. Planning and tracking works actively, as prioritised by the product, project, and development management.
5. Gaining a good understanding of the technical structure, domain, and architecture of the systems that the team is responsible for.
6. Identifying and mitigating risk.
7. Working through dependencies.
8. Mentoring members of the team and ensuring distribution of knowledge.
9. Inputting developer appraisals and other performance feedback.
