Fugro is now seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join the Client Deliverables Department based in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. The Staff Geotechnical Engineer will be required to work on various offshore site investigations and assist more senior members of staff to prepare field, laboratory, soil parameters and engineering reports in accordance with company procedures, health and safety and quality policies, project specifications and industry standards. You will have the opportunity to travel internationally and work offshore, typically for 90 to 120 days per year working aboard offshore plants (e.g. a drillship, jack-up etc.) to perform standard and specialised in situ and offshore laboratory testing as well as collect, process and analyse soil and/or rock samples.

Who you’ll be working with:
This role will require you to work offshore and onshore with other engineers. You also need to work alongside colleagues from various departments (e.g. laboratory, project manager, quality, health and safety, commercial etc.).
Here’s what a typical day would be like:
* Offshore site works on various offshore plants;
* Data acquisition, processing and reporting;
* Data entry into spreadsheets and Fugro software;
* Check input and/or calculations for analyses performed by others;
* Assign laboratory tests and manage laboratory test programmes under supervision;
* Perform engineering analyses under supervision;
* QA/QC collected data and results;
* Produce or assist in the production of project deliverables and/or reports.
Who we’re looking for:
Essential:
* Undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in civil engineering, engineering geology or geology or related discipline;
* Knowledge in general geotechnical data acquisition and testing;
* Associate membership of an appropriate professional body;
* Computer literate and basic ability of using spreadsheets and plotting software;
* Actively participate in a safe and quality-based culture within the offshore and onshore teams;
* Able to communicate (i.e. verbally and written) to deliver the results for internal and external clients;
* A team player and able to form working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels;
* Basic knowledge of in situ and soil or rock data acquisition including soils and/or rock description;
* Basic knowledge of geology and soil mechanics;
* Have entry level experience working geotechnical data acquisition projects;
* Able to plan own workload.
