Title: Payroll Administrator
Salary: £34,000

Hybrid: 3 days a week
We are seeking a proactive, well-organised, and detail-oriented individual to join a team as a Payroll Administrator. The ideal Payroll Administrator will possess strong time management skills and be comfortable communicating with clients and colleagues at all levels.
The diverse client base includes SMEs across various industries such as manufacturing, professional services, IT, property development, hospitality, and non-profits. You will have frequent interactions with clients both in person, over the phone, and via video calls and emails, so excellent communication skills are a must.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accurately input sensitive payroll data into our payroll system to ensure timely payroll processing.
2. Maintain and update payroll records in line with Real Time Information (RTI) requirements.
3. Address client queries related to payroll, benefits, and expenses.
4. Upload pension contributions to appropriate providers.
5. Complete payroll journal entries.
6. Perform regular database maintenance and updates.
7. Manage end-to-end payroll processing for clients.
8. Execute employee payments via BACS.
9. Verify payroll deductions for accuracy.
10. Process auto-enrolment, student loan deductions, and maternity pay calculations.
11. Issue P45s, P60s, and other necessary payroll documents.
12. Handle year-end payroll returns, including submission to HMRC.
13. Set up new employees within the payroll system.
14. Serve as the primary point of contact for client payroll-related needs.
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. Previous experience in delivering payroll services and handling payroll-related tasks.
2. Sound knowledge of tax, National Insurance, and statutory payments.
3. Familiarity with relevant legislation and the ability to apply it effectively.
4. Strong client service skills, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
5. Ability to spot potential payroll issues and escalate when necessary.
6. Excellent organisational and administrative capabilities.
7. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Clear and efficient communication with both clients and team members, particularly when dealing with changes or updates.
9. Strong integrity and confidentiality, ensuring professionalism at all times.
10. A personable and approachable communicator.
11. Ability to stay composed and effective under pressure.
