We are looking for a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians to join us as our Exchequer Manager and work as part of a team that provides a variety of financial services. You will be a confident, enthusiastic leader able to inspire your team to achieve goals in line with the Council's objectives.
Reporting into the Finance Services Manager in this broad and varied role, you will oversee the delivery of our supplier payments and cash interfaces. You will be responsible for a small team of Officers comprising of 3 Finance Officers and 1 Accounting Technician, that process invoices within payment terms, raise debtor accounts, allocate payments received in the bank and ensure that transactions are properly processed to support VAT and CIS returns.
The role will be the lead in the sundry debt recovery process and will be responsible for managing the administration of the Council’s insurance provision, including the annual renewal and setting of the insurance budget.
A comprehensive knowledge of Balance Sheet management and an ability to undertake accurate interface reconciliations is essential.
Applicants for this post will have management experience within a Finance Department and have a sound understanding of Accounts Payable and Receivable. The post holder will have good organisational skills, be an effective communicator, possess good problem-solving and evaluation skills, and be familiar with the relevant tax schemes (VAT and Construction Industry Scheme). The nature of the service provided by the Finance team will require a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
This post reports directly to the Finance Services Manager assisting in the provision of excellent and effective accounting services.
