JOB TITLE: Befriending Co-ordinator
HOURS: 16 per week
SALARY: Dependent upon experience
LOCATION: Sudbury Office (CO10 1HN), with travel around Suffolk.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Business Development Manager
SUMMARY OF POSITION

We believe that collaborative working is essential to make volunteering a success for the individual volunteer. Befriending links will require careful preparation, planning, support, monitoring and review systems.
PURPOSE OF POST

To be responsible for the overall management and development of the one to one befriending service for vulnerable adults in Suffolk.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage, develop and co-ordinate the one to one befriending project reporting to the Business Development Manager;
2. Manage and support a team of volunteers to assist with the service, ensuring that TBS policies and vetting procedures are adhered to;
3. To be responsible for the recruitment, selection, DBS checking, training, support and linking of volunteers with support from the admin team;
4. Implement a training and support programme for all Befriending volunteers;
5. Facilitate the beginning and ending of the befriending relationship;
6. Visit and manage a referral caseload of those people seeking a befriender;
7. Ensure the appropriate linking of volunteers to referrals, and monitoring the resulting partnerships;
8. Maintain communication and develop relationships with those people who are on the waiting list;
9. Provide ongoing support and supervision to matched pairs, enabling them to receive the maximum benefits from the service;
10. Work alongside the BDM and admin team in all recruitment, publicity and fundraising campaigns; this may also include occasional evening and weekend working;
11. Network and liaise effectively with statutory and other voluntary organisations in Suffolk;
12. Maintain clear and accurate records and produce all documentation to a high standard;
13. Record all data, including all users’ opinions of the scheme, to enable the organisation to monitor the progress of the scheme and evaluate its overall effectiveness;
14. Attend relevant meetings as required by, and reporting to the BDM.
15. To manage a simple petty cash system;
16. Assist with volunteer expenses forms where necessary;
17. All staff will undertake such training as is necessary to perform the duties allocated;
18. To assist in the delivery of training where appropriate;
19. To undertake any other duties as required, commensurate with the level of the post.
