We are recruiting a male Support Worker to join our weekend team in the Muscliff area working 25 hours per week. You would need to hold a Full UK driving license to be considered for this role, however access to your own vehicle is not essential. Please note Autism Unlimited do not provide sponsorship.
The role
You would be supporting Luke who is in his late twenties and lives in Muscliff. He communicates through various aids such as PECS cards, body language, hand signs and gestures.
Activities Luke enjoys include:
* Days out to Swanage, taking the chain ferry across where he likes to enjoy a ride on the steam train.
* Peaceful nature walks through the new forest.
* On quieter days, he enjoys completing new puzzles and can do them in record time!
* Bouncing sometimes for hours in the garden on his trampoline.
This role would suit someone who is calm, patient and eager to help enable Luke to be as independent as possible and to look at new ways of interacting in the community.
Hours of work
You would work a mixture of shifts between: 7am – 4pm or 3pm – 10pm
A day in the life of a Support Worker would include:
* Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans, finances, appointments and medication
* Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community
* Following the support plan in plan for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy, adapting this as required based on change in behaviour
* Providing some elements of personal care from personal hygiene prompts, helping to bath and wash, medication
