Educated Appointments are delighted to be assisting a local college to recruit a Work Based Learning Manager within the Service Industries and Care, Health and Early Years department. As a Work Based Learning Manager, you will develop and grow apprenticeships and other workplace learning to meet employer and learner needs and be responsible for the delivery and performance of all WBL programmes and the assessors who deliver them. This role is based at the clients Cambridge Campus with occasional travel to the campus in Huntingdon as well as requiring visits to employers. You will achieve growth ambitions whilst ensuring high quality and be responsible for the team meeting its targets, caseload management of team, work-based learning budgets and forecasting. You will also be responsible for work-based learning element of the department’s performance monitoring reports and SAR You will have line management responsibilities for the Quality Leads and the Work Based Learning Assessors within the team. The primary duties, tasks and responsiblities of this role Business Development - Develop strategies to increase employer engagement and business development so that the recruitment of apprentices grows. - Ensure an effective response to employer needs through a variety of sources of funding including Apprenticeships and full cost work. - Develop opportunities for the College to gain from relationships with employers through curriculum advice, work placement and job opportunities. - Promote apprenticeships through careers events and school visits. Curriculum - Be responsible for the planning and design of all aspects of the work-based curriculum, ensuring workplace, qualification and framework requirements are met. - Plan and manage resources effectively to ensure that all employer and qualification/framework requirements are delivered as per contract. - Oversight of Centre Co-ordination for awarding organisations and of Lead Internal Verifier/Quality Assurer activities for programmes to ensure high quality delivery of the training provision within the agreed timescales to meet employer and contractual requirements. - Ensure robust quality assurance procedures are in place, and these are regularly reviewed. - Support work placements for fulltime learners. - With other managers in the Department, develop new training and apprenticeship programmes to meet employer need and demand. - Promote the use of technology and e-learning in training delivery, assessment and the review process. Learners - In collaboration with the Employer Engagement Team, ensure effective arrangements are in place for the recruitment, assessment, enrolment, induction, monitoring and progress recording of all work-based learners in the faculty. Ensure workplace health and safety checks are carried out as necessary. - Plan and implement strategies to advance equality and equal outcomes in the recruitment and achievements of learners. - Monitor success rates, retention, ALS/ASN and report monthly on team performance at individual learner level. Flag high risk learners. Staff - Be a proactive line manager, a role model for staff and a spokesperson for the College. - Assist with the interviewing and appointment of staff in the area and ensure all new staff have a timely and full corporate and area induction. - Manage the performance of staff effectively, ensuring that all staff have appraisals and probation reviews with targets and measurable outcomes. Where appropriate, ensure performance improvement plans are in place. - Meet individual staff regularly throughout the year to review progress of caseloads and take action straightaway if performance is not satisfactory. - Ensure that all staff have the required experience and qualifications for their roles, and that everyone has an annual training and development plan that is linked to Faculty needs and the College’s strategic aims. - Ensure staff maintain current CPD and occupational updating to meet the requirements of the awarding organisation. - Carry out regular Deep Dive quality checks to ensure quality of assessor reviews meet the college quality expectations. - Arrange developmental observations and Quality observations for assessors and quality assurers as required and follow up with action plans. - Meet regularly as a team and discuss operational and College matters. - Ensure that College employment policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff. General - Achieve annual budget targets, apply resources appropriately and realise value for money. - Contribute to the development of the Faculty Self-Assessment Report and Strategic Improvement Plan - Work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues as required on college initiatives. - Maintain compliance with all College planning and quality processes and procedures. - Produce timely comprehensive reports and action plans for the programme area on all quality and operational matters. - Ensure that safe working practices are followed, and appropriate Health & Safety and Safeguarding legislation and guidance is adhered to at all times. - Actively advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations within the College community and adhere to College Equality and Diversity policies, procedures and practices. - Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required, commensurate with the level of responsibilities and duties of this post. - To actively advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations within the College community. - To adhere to college equal opportunities policies, procedures and practices.
