The Headteacher and Trustees are seeking to appoint an experienced cleaner to join our school cleaning team as soon as possible. This position will be 11 hours per week and contracted term time only on a permanent basis. Additional paid hours during school holidays may be needed. Duties will include general cleaning, vacuuming, polishing, dusting, mopping, and using an electric floor polisher. Familiarity with commercial cleaning techniques would be useful although training will be provided. Contracted hours will be mainly after the school day, but other times may be requested.
Purpose of Job:
* To promote the aims of Barnwell Academy.
* To carry out general cleaning (i.e dust, sweep, mop and vacuum) duties to maintain a clean and hygienic environment for pupils and staff.
Principal Responsibilities
* Be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of your designated area and for maintaining high and consistent standards.
Main Duties
* To report to the relevant line manager any damages/vandalism noted or repairs that are required on a daily basis e.g. broken light fittings.
* Take initiative to perform cleaning and tidying tasks that are not specifically contained within the rota but require attention as part of maintaining overall high standards.
* To report any Health and Safety issues to the relevant line manager.
* Operating mechanical cleaning equipment.
* Collecting and removing refuse as directed by the appropriate line manager.
* Ensure the safe use of cleaning chemicals and their storage. Ensure that strict control is observed in materials used and dilution ratios.
* Ensure that the area of work complies with legislation relating to Health & Safety and observe and implement specific responsibilities in relation to these matters as detailed in the Policy for Health & Safety.
* To attend and participate in training courses and meetings as required.
* To undertake any other duties as may be required, as commensurate with the level of the post.
