Are you a qualified Clinical Physiologist looking to join an enthusiastic and dynamic team in the south east of England? Come and join us at Southend University Hospital by the sea where we strive to provide high quality care for every patient.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic qualified physiologist who wants to develop their skills in pacing follow up, Pacemaker implant and cardiac catheterisation. Post qualification experience in these areas is not essential, however you will need to demonstrate a clear interest in pacing and a drive to learn new skills.
On completion of training and work based competences you will be responsible for working autonomously within the clinics and cath lab.
You should already hold the BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent and either have or looking to gain AHCS registration and be willing to maintain CPD.
Main duties of the job
Your role will be to train and develop your skills in the pacing and cath lab areas, to work effectively within a wide multidisciplinary team, upholding Trust values of Respectful, Excellent and Compassionate.
You will assist in the training of the apprentice Physiologists and Student Physiologists within the department.
You will undertake work in a timely and efficient way, meeting deadlines and keeping senior colleagues informed of changes in own technical workload and maintain clinical documentation and databases as directed.
You will participate in the provision of data for statistical analysis and adhere to departmental standards of record keeping with respect to accuracy, timeliness of completion and confidentiality.
You will be expected to exercise initiative and judgement in solving problems related to your technical workload, whilst keeping others informed and recognising when there is a need to refer problems to senior colleagues and being responsive to advice given.
Your role will involve dealing with telephone queries from patients, relatives, general practitioners etc in a calm and professional manner, providing testing in the community where appropriate and any other duties as requested by Senior Chief Clinical Physiologist and Principal Physiologist.

Person specification
Qualification
* BSc in Clinical Physiology, BTEC, or equivalent such as Healthcare Science
* BLS or ILS
* RCCP/ BHRS/BSE/ARTP
Experience
* Proficiency in and a strong underpinning knowledge of exercise tolerance testing and resting and ambulatory ECG and BP recording and interpretation
* Attendance at professional scientific meetings and training courses
* Experience of working within a busy NHS cardiac department
* Experience of training junior members of staff
