Our Hull operation is an experienced leader in the injection and blow moulding industry, housing state of the art blow moulding machines and a modern fleet of injection moulding machines. IPL Hull takes initiative on providing eco-friendly solutions and pride themselves on delivering products specifically tailored to their customers' needs. Key products include the “One Nest” stacking crate, jerry cans, Water Butt, composter, kerbside boxes, food waste containers and nestable bale arm trays.
We are looking for a Senior Planner to join the Supply Chain team at IPL Hull.
This is an ideal opportunity to join us at an exciting time in a critical role for the plant, working as part of the broader Supply Chain function onsite, and with stakeholders across our wider Europe division, you will be a key collaborator between our customer service and commercial teams, and our production operations.
The Senior Planner will need to respond to sales orders and forecasts to build weekly production schedules, ensuring that our customer requirements and production deadlines are met by aligning capacity and inventory levels with demand forecasts.
Please note that this is a full-time role, based from our site off Hedon Road (HU9).
Key responsibilities include:
* Develop a weekly production schedule with reference to budget and timescales, according to customer demands that ensures OTIF delivery.
* Collaborate with commercial colleagues to understand forecasts and react to production plan adjustments in line with increased or altered customer demand.
* Proactively identify, communicate and follow up on significant trends and demand changes, to provide long and short-term capacity plans.
* Liaise with key cross-functional stakeholders to understand operational requirements based on plant capacity and production specifications.
* Collaborate with the Production Manager regarding the production plan sign off and communicate schedules and priorities clearly and effectively to the wider site team.
* Support a continuous improvement approach to the review of production processes and recommend alterations where you feel value can be added.
* Monitor OEE, downtime, and order fulfilment rates, and champion the most effective manufacturing practices to improve workflows.
* Input and monitor customer orders in the ERP system, ensuring that data accuracy is maintained.
* Work closely with the Purchasing and Inventory teams to ensure the availability of raw materials and finished goods, coordinating relevant stakeholders to address shortages or overstock.
* Liaise with Technical team members to understand the impact of tooling changes to ensure production deadlines are met.
* Build capacity plans based on resource availability and monitor inventory levels to minimise excess stock levels.
* Identify and address production disruptions and explore viable solutions to maintain the delivery of schedules in line with agreed priorities to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
* Provide regular and ad-hoc updates as required to senior management, highlighting data-driven insights for strategic planning.
* Manage a small team (2 direct reports), supporting and coaching them to promote high performance that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
About You
The ideal candidate will be highly driven and have a strong background in production planning, cross-department collaboration, and continuous process improvement, ideally from within a fast-paced industry.
You will have:
* Fluency and proficiency in the practical application of ERP functionality
* Proven experience of building and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Good commercial and financial acumen
* Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders at all levels
* Sound judgment and analytical abilities with strong attention while handling multiple priorities
