We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with hands-on expertise in genomics/molecular biology to join the Oncology Translational Research team within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will work as part of a team that evaluates patient-derived tissues through cutting-edge cellular, genomic and molecular techniques, and partners with AI/ML and analytics experts to integrate data from these multimodal approaches to generate clinical insights. The goal of this is to improve cancer patient risk stratification, identify clinical biomarkers and predict future targeted and/or immuno-therapy susceptibilities.
In this role you will
* Create protocols and perform the sample processing for genomic experiments (e.g. RNAseq, WES, scRNAseq). These capabilities will be applied to ex vivo models and biobanked tumour tissues.
* Work closely with other leaders in the Oncology Translational Research team to ensure alignment and integration of cancer genomics with other functions.
* Actively consider and recommend internal vs external options for delivery of individual genomics approaches.
* Keep abreast of the latest research and technological advancements in genomics and molecular biology to ensure the team is using the most current and effective methods.
* Execute and deliver data of the project to a high quality and within defined timeframes.
* Offer technical expertise and support to other team members, helping them troubleshoot and optimize their experimental protocols. Solve technical issues operate as part of a cross-functional project team.
* Ensure proper storage, tracking, and documentation of samples used for genomics experiments.
* Collaborating with KCL scientists within the GSK-KCL Translational Oncology Research Hub, an exclusive research collaboration between GSK and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre at KCL.

* Strong background in developing and applying cutting-edge genomic technologies to study cancer biology
* Experience with functional genomic and molecular biology methods, including RNAseq and NGS approaches
* Strong understanding of cancer biology, including the molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and cancer progression
* Ability to communicate with team members from different backgrounds by training/discipline, as well as senior members of the GSK stakeholders/research partner units
* Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive can-do and result oriented attitude
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
* PhD in Cancer Biology, Genomics, or related field, with extensive experience in cancer genomics
* A track record of scientific Publication
* Experience in collaboration with biopharma
* Excellent leadership and communication skills
* Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex scientific and business challenges
