We are now recruiting for a Safety Case Author to join us permanently on our major projects.
Purpose and Scope:
As Safety Case Author, you will be part of this major programme safety case capability and provide radiological safety assessment. You will be accountable to the Safety Case Manager.
Responsibilities:
As the Safety Case Author, your responsibilities will include:
1. Undertaking radiological safety assessment and associated activities, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management functions;
2. Acting in any safety assessment or equivalent role;
3. Supporting the Safety Case Manager;
4. Supporting wider Programme safety case and engineering leads when requested;
5. Assisting the Head of Profession in capability development and establishment and implementation of resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence;
6. Advising Amentum and Client leadership, engineering, programme and project management, and clients (intelligent Customer), on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance;
7. Interfacing as necessary with suppliers;
8. Supporting the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
1. Ideally hold a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education);
2. Human Factors assessment and HAZAN production;
3. Experience of UK and International standards, Technical Assessment Guides;
4. Experience of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools;
5. Experience of ergonomics/human factors design;
6. Experience of relevant code (THERP, HEART etc.) application in a wide range of nuclear operations and fault scenarios;
7. Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting;
8. Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel;
9. Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing;
10. Good MS applications, organizational skills, and ability to perform detail-oriented work;
11. Experience of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions;
12. Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations;
13. Experience of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning;
14. Experience of safety case in civil reactors and the defence sector;
15. Experience of international nuclear safety assessment;
16. Project management and project controls skills;
17. Ability to mentor and coach.
Position will require the ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
