It is essential that our products are manufactured to high standards and totally conform to our customer requirements. In the role of a Non-Destructive Testing Engineering Technician Apprentice, you be involved with a range of recognised NDT methods including Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing and Penetrant Testing. Our business relies on the accuracy of NDT and therefore the importance of this role cannot be overstated. This role is wide-ranging and has both practical and theoretical elements. As part of your development to a certified technician, you will be expected to carry out testing, under supervision, as well as completing academic study. Verification of your understanding in the various elements will be assessed by formal practical and written examination. We will help you develop into a Non-Destructive Testing Technician that delivers safe, capable processes to specified standards. Specific activities could include: Assisting with Non-Destructive Testing related projects. Preparation of NDT written instructions and procedures. “Hands on”, supervised testing of munitions component parts. Involvement in the development and installation of new equipment to meet the requirements of the business and the customer. Assisting with awareness training and knowledge improvement in NDT. Ensuring effective liaison with the other functions such as Manufacturing Engineering, Safety, Quality, Procurement and Logistics is used to successfully tackle production issues. Liaison with specialist external test facilities as required for test and validation purposes. Supporting improvement projects in respect of technical issues. Please Note : For safeguarding purposes applicants will need to be 18 by the start date of 01/09/2025 due to being expected to travel and stay overnight, unaccompanied, in Sheffield while attending a training provider. What qualification will you get? Non-Destructive Testing Engineering Technician / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education You will receive NDT Level 2 certification, in accordance with national and international standards, in the following methods: Ultrasonic Testing. Eddy Current Testing. Penetrant Testing. The training and examination to obtain the relevant certification will be performed off site at recognised accredited NDT training establishments.
