An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Administrator/Controller to join Simpson & Brown, an award-winning architecture, archaeology and heritage consultancy practice based in central Edinburgh. Role You will be an integral part of the practice and have both operational and strategic responsibility for the financial control and reporting within the office. You will assist in driving performance and maximising value by delivering pragmatic insights and analysis of key financial data, as well as providing strategic and commercial advice. You will have primary day-to-day responsibility for all financial and management reporting, forecasting, strategic planning and analysis, project costing and key finance improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: · Develop and execute management strategies to ensure the firm has robust financial controls and clear and accurate management reporting. · Establishing a strong relationship with the partners, reporting to partner meetings to contribute on strategic, financial, and operational matters. · Preparing and processing sales invoices; processing purchase invoices; maintaining sales, purchase and nominal ledgers; analysis and reconciliation of control accounts. · Accountable for all financial matters including preparation of management reporting, the statutory financial statements, VAT returns, management of cash flow and payroll and ensuring compliance with all Companies House and other financial requirements. · Responsible for paying suppliers and assisting with debt collection. · Management of relationships with the firm’s accountants, bankers and other third-party providers. · Responsible for developing the annual budget and financial forecasts based on input from the partners and leading the presentation of the budget and forecasts to the partners for approval. · Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement new finance platforms and systems. · Contributing positively to the team culture and embracing the firm’s core values. General Skills and Experience: · Experience with financial software and tools, including Sage and Excel. Training will be provided for Rapport3, our sector specific project finance and resource management system. · Strong understanding of accounting processes, financial management and analytical skills · Attention to detail and accuracy · Ability to work independently and collaboratively · Ability to identify key issues, prioritise workload and to meet deadlines · Friendly, sociable, and approachable.
