Roles that require PVG Membership: Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above, currently £30,285 per annum / £16.64 per hour). The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first FULL month's salary payment.
Job Purpose/about The Role:
To deliver an excellent quality education to assigned pupils and contribute to the professional, corporate life of the school in relation to pupils, staff, and appropriate external bodies within the agreements of the SNCT. To lead learning and teaching with a focus on pedagogy in schools and virtually across the city, sharing, demonstrating, and modelling excellent practice. To provide support for the professional needs of colleagues, including school leaders and lead career-long professional learning opportunities in learning, teaching, and pedagogy. To fulfil the requirements of a Lead Teacher in a local authority as reported in the SNCT Lead Teacher Framework.
Requirements:
* Appropriate secondary teaching qualification
* Full GTC (Scotland) registration in a secondary subject or be eligible for such registration
* PVG scheme membership
Responsibilities:
* Using a variety of pedagogical approaches within the classroom
* Applying 21st-century skills across subject areas to ensure 21st-century pedagogy is implemented to a high standard
* Implementing innovative learning methods that integrate the use of technologies, inquiry, and problem-based approaches
* Excellent teaching and learning strategies
* Current research on pedagogical approaches
* Modelling excellent teaching and learning strategies to colleagues
* Team leadership and the ability to provide strategic direction and guidance to colleagues
* Preparing pupils for examinations and qualifications
* Planning and assessment
* Classroom management
* Collegiate and partnership working
* Utilising technology to showcase excellent learning experiences from within the classroom to a wider audience virtually
* Leading local networks and collaborating through, and contributing to, regional and national networks related to pedagogy
* The ability to model and showcase excellent practice in delivering a high quality of teaching and learning experience for all young people across Aberdeen City
