A Vacancy at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS Service and will be based with local authority colleagues in-reaching to our pupil referral units. This post will be focused on early intervention and ensuring that groups of vulnerable children and young people have access to mental health advice and support. The post holder is responsible for providing mental health assessments and brief psychotherapeutic interventions and assisting in navigating local mental health systems for children and young people who are at risk of/or excluded from education. The role will also involve providing advice, training and consultation to the network of professionals supporting this cohort of young people, their parent(s)/carer(s) and other agencies.
The post will provide a close link between CAMHS and education providing smooth transition where needed between mental health service offers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To ensure high quality mental health assessment of children and young people known to the boroughs specialist provisions.
2. To identify the need for assessment through liaison with the Education, social care, CAMHS and other appropriate agencies who support young people at risk or excluded from education who may also be experiencing mental health issues.
3. To provide access to a range of quality psychotherapeutic interventions in accordance with individual assessed need. This will include the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of therapeutic approaches either alone or as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
4. To deliver highly specialised and therapeutic input to children and young people referred to the team.
5. Work as a co-therapist where appropriate with other members of the MDT.
6. To be responsible for and manage a defined complex caseload and undertake case management responsibilities within the caseload.
7. To identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the child/young person and others in line with Pennine Care and CAMHS and Education procedures and protocols.
8. To liaise closely with a wide range of agencies regarding individual care packages and to promote awareness of child and adolescent mental health issues within these agencies.
9. To provide information where clinically appropriate for the purposes of EHCP processes.
10. To give advice and support to the designated lead of the educational provision in terms of the development of services to meet the mental health needs of young people at risk or excluded from education.
11. To provide consultation and training on a wide range of children/young people’s emotional health and well-being issues to professionals from a range of services including GP’s, Early Help and Primary Care Services, Adult Mental Health Services, Social Care and Education Services.
12. To engage in and deliver managerial and clinical supervision, including with appropriate consent, recording and reviewing of live clinical work.
13. Ensure collection of relevant information required by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
14. To routinely monitor effectiveness of clinical work by the use of Routine Outcome Measures (ROM) and where outcomes are not improving for children, young people and families to engage in clinical review via peer review meetings and supervision.
