Job Title: QA Manager
Reporting to: Factory Technical Manager
Direct Reports: 4 Direct Reports with wider team of +30 individuals
Job Purpose: The QA Manager is expected to set excellent standards and processes, seeking continuous improvement and forming a food safety culture across the site.
Responsibilities of the role:
1. Ensure that all objectives and procedures detailed within the Quality Manual System are met and are compliant to BRC Global Standard for Food Safety and Retailer Codes of Practices.
2. Ensure corrective actions, root cause analysis, and preventative actions are agreed with the appropriate area managers/supervisors and actioned within the agreed timescale.
3. Develop expertise across the site regarding QA processes and constraints, to continuously improve food safety, legality, and quality compliance across the site.
4. Contribute to and drive the Food Safety Culture and KPI performance of the site.
5. Attend, and where appropriate, lead 3rd Party and Customer visits and ensure that the site is prepared for all known visits and audit ready every day.
6. Drive improvements by working with the Operations and Technical team to reduce complaints and other non-conformances.
7. Complete, where necessary, any appropriate internal audit as directed by the Factory Technical Manager.
8. To lead and inspire a successful team, and develop the team through effective objective setting, feedback, support, and stretch targets.
9. Any other task as reasonably requested by their line manager.
Technical Skills and Expertise:
1. Formal qualification in food science/technology. Minimum HNC and ideally degree level.
2. Strong understanding of food manufacturing requirements in line with BRC and retail clients COP Tesco and M&S.
3. A good understanding of listeria and allergen management.
4. Track record of closing out complex Non-conformances meeting the deadline and compliance requirements.
5. Experience of working in a Senior QA or Compliance role.
6. Previous experience of leading an engaged and high performing team.
