Entity: Production & Operations Job Family Group: Subsurface Group Job Description: Structural Geology is a critical component of the Subsurface workflow. It underpins everything that we do – from the basin scale to the well scale, and across conventional, unconventional, and low carbon projects – and is key to safe, reliable operations. In this role, you will work as part of bp’s central team of around eight Structural Geology Specialists, and often alongside other discipline specialists from the wider Subsurface Characterisation Specialists (SCS) Unit. You will work with squads from across the Production and Operations entity, providing Flow to Work support on Structural Geology issues across a range of scales and geographies. As such, this role provides opportunities to work on geological problems from across bp’s value chain and global portfolio. You will be required to work with your Discipline Lead to balance competing project needs, and flexibly switch between projects as the Subsurface prioritisation process requires. This role is open to integrated geologists and specialist geologists alike. Existing specialist structural geology skills are welcome – but are not necessarily required as you will be supported with coaching and training as needed. You will also need an open and inquisitive mindset, the desire to learn and apply new skills, as well as strong collaboration and communication skills. What you will deliver Delivery and integration of Structural Geology technical products to solve complex business challenges. Provide insight to inform the communication of uncertainty and risk associated with opportunities. Support squads and wider discipline with activity planning and prioritisation. Drive knowledge management, sharing of lessons learned and continuous improvement. Support the development of others, through the delivery of formal and informal training. What you will need to be successful In addition to possessing relevant industry experience as an integrated or specialist geoscientist, it is important that you are also able to demonstrate: Experience working on subsurface characterisation, and the analysis and communication of uncertainties and risks. Strong collaboration, integration, communication and influencing skills. Desire to learn and deploy new skills, and ability to adapt and problem solve as projects develop and evolve. Ability to work effectively across multiple work fronts, and prioritise between competing project requests. Ability to partner with Squads, Discipline Leads and Subject Matter Experts to frame technical work requirements and delivery. Ability to build and maintain networks across Subsurface, Wells, Projects, Production, Technology and Finance. It would be beneficial to also have: Experience of working across multiple concurrent projects, and with remote squads in different locations and timezones. Experience of Structural Seismic Interpretation, QC, Analysis and Modelling, and Structural Timing and Restoration workflows. Interest in supporting the development of others, through the delivery of technical coaching, and formal and informal training. Why Join us?
