Our client is looking for an experienced Head of Education to lead their amazing team based on-site at HMYOI Werrington in Staffordshire. As the Head of Education, your role will be to lead and manage the delivery of education at HMYOI Werrington and a staff group to deliver an exceptional quality provision that meets or exceeds the expectations of the service. You will be responsible for ensuring that the young people at HMYOI Werrington make good progress and enjoy a high-quality well-planned learning experience. Responsibilities: Maximising contract performance by fully understanding contractual obligations and performance targets, delivering the agreed curriculum and meeting quality assurance targets. Developing the curriculum in line with needs of the population, local labour market and employers Ensuring quality assurance and quality improvement processes and procedures are in place and that they develop and sustain a culture of continuous service improvement. Agreeing and setting targets with staff members to ensure both financial and contractual obligations are met and exceeded. Effectively planning and controlling income and expenditure to ensure a profitable business by maximizing contract performance. Ensuring that all contracts are run in accordance with external and internal procedures, e.g. achieving low risk external and internal audits and accurate and timely claims. Recruiting, managing, developing and maintaining discipline of staff employed in the department. Responsibility for health, safety and wellbeing of staff and learners, maintenance and security of the department in line with prison and company policy. Attendance at meetings, seminars and training sessions in pursuit of continuous personal development. Identify development opportunities to improve the service to the children at Werrington. To build effective relationships with the prison and youth offending teams to ensure that children have access to high quality curriculum that meets their individual needs. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of educational programs, making data-driven decisions to improve outcomes. Key Specification Relevant first degree, QTS or QTLS, NQPH (or the ability to achieve within a reasonable period) The ability to demonstrate experience of successful curriculum development and change. Persuasive and supportive leadership and staff management skills to successfully manage performance and develop an achievement-focused team of teaching staff. Excellent communication skills and a creative and flexible approach towards achieving objectives and deadlines. The ability to influence others and though a proactive style encourages innovation and problem solving through your team.
