Department: Careers and Placements, Student and Academic Services
The Environmental Sustainability Academy at York (ESAY) is an interdisciplinary initiative, a collaboration between research, teaching and involving partners locally, nationally and globally. Creating a clear gateway to external partnerships and communities to connect with the University, facilitating the discovery, sharing and co-creation of knowledge and expertise.
Careers and Placements, part of Student and Academic Services, designs and delivers a programme of events and activities that are designed to help our students gain an understanding of their next career steps and link with appropriate employers. The programme covers a wide range of sectors and varies in scale from focused employer-led project challenges for up 20 students through to large annual careers fairs that attract over a thousand participants.
The ESAY Community Engaged Learning Manager is responsible for the planning and delivery of a range of activities that bring student skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to work on outcomes planned in cooperation with community partners. Working with the Sustainability Clinic Director, the post is responsible for the active components of a credit bearing interdisciplinary module. This requires: the identification of suitable community partner organisations, the design of projects that will benefit them whilst also providing opportunities for students to learn and develop, and then the successful implementation and evaluation of these projects.
