OBM are currently recruiting for a experienced Logistics Compliance Manager for our client based in Aberdeen. The Logistics Compliance Manager ensures full compliance with UK HMRC import/export regulations for the clients sites sites, as well as the relevant international trade rules for all countries the client operates in. You will manage import/export activities, ensure all documentation meets legal standards, and collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain best practices, identify risks, and drive continuous improvements in compliance processes. Key Responsibilities: Ensure full compliance with UK/international customs regulations and trade laws. Promote trade compliance and support stakeholders with guidance and education. Oversee accurate documentation for customs clearance and compliance. Proactively address risks and opportunities to minimize compliance issues. Lead internal/external compliance audits and drive improvements. Conduct regular audits of import/export processes and ensure due diligence. Implement control measures (MSS, MRN, VAT) and review error reports. Act as main contact with HMRC for import/export queries and ensure compliance. Maintain accurate product classifications and stay updated on tariff/VAT changes. Support Tax Accountant with HMRC reporting obligations (VAT & duty). Collaborate with Finance, Sales, and Legal on VAT/EU trade matters. Manage Incoterms impact and HMRC authorizations (IP, OP, TA). Continuously improve logistics processes and identify areas for optimization. Provide training on compliance requirements and manage external service providers. Adhere to the company’s Quality Procedures, maintaining high standards for all products and services. Participate in training and development activities to enhance job performance. Build strong working relationships and establish yourself as a subject matter expert. Understand and follow appropriate reporting lines. Be flexible with working hours as needed to meet job demands. Occasional travel may be required. Perform additional duties as necessary. Managing People: Delegate responsibilities to encourage growth and engagement. Lead and motivate individuals and teams to excel without constant supervision. Provide opportunities for skill development through on-the-job training and formal education. Monitor performance, give constructive feedback, and recognize achievements. Address conflicts effectively to minimize disruptions to team performance. Qualifications and Skills: Degree in Business or related field, or extensive experience in a similar shipping role. In-depth knowledge of Supply Chain operations in manufacturing or oil and gas service environments. Strong expertise in import/export procedures and HMRC authorizations. Knowledge and Understanding of shipping Dangerous Goods. Comprehensive understanding of HMRC legislation and AEO regulations. Solid grasp of UK and international trade regulations, customs procedures, and compliance. Strong knowledge of VAT and Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA) requirements. Proficiency with HS/commodity codes, customs declarations, and trade documentation. Extensive multi-modal transport experience (domestic, international, local). Proven experience managing audits and collaborating with external stakeholders, including customs brokers and freight forwarders.
