Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a paediatric nurse with an interest in diabetes to join our dynamic team. The role involves support and education of children and young people with a new diagnosis of diabetes, training of ward staff and the wider setting (eg schools) as well as clinical reviews and ongoing diabetes management support. We are a small team of paediatric diabetic nurses, paediatric dietitians, paediatric psychologists and paediatric consultants. We work with children and young people from age 0-19yrs. We work compassionately with our patients and their families and aim to build positive relationships to enable us to deliver an excellent service of care. Main duties of the job The post holder will: Be based at Basildon Hospital and work collaboratively within the multi-professional paediatric diabetes teamEnsure the delivery and development of patient focused care and support through a collaborative approach with all members of the multidisciplinary teamBe responsible for the management of a caseload of patients and will be required to have an extensive, specialist knowledge of diabetesPartake in the East of England consortium 24hr telephone advice serviceThis role requires a high level of autonomy and decision makingThe post holder will be required to travel throughout South West Essex as well as attending regional meetings.
