We are currently recruiting for the position of an Indexer / Researcher to join our Strategy and Impact Directorate, which consists of three Departments: Research and Intelligence Analysis, Governance and National Communications and Partnerships. This role will be essential in supporting the GLAA in the production of timely, informative intelligence and analytical products allowing the GLAA to deliver on its strategic priorities and become experts in the field of labour exploitation.

The GLAA is one of the principal investigative law enforcement bodies for labour exploitation in the UK. The GLAA ensures that workers in the UK are treated fairly, properly and are protected from abuse and exploitation. We have three core functions:
+ Regulation - We regulate businesses that provide workers to the horticulture, agriculture, shellfish gathering and food processing and packaging sector. Our regulatory work includes operating a licencing scheme, undertaking inspections to ensure compliance with that scheme, and taking enforcement action where there are breaches.
+ Prevention We work with a broad range of stakeholders locally, nationally, and internationally to help prevent workers from being exploited.
+ Enforcement - We investigate allegations of worker abuse under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. GLAA Officers conduct civil and criminal investigations and take enforcement action, including prosecutions and court orders to disrupt criminal activity. We also support victims who have been abused, in particular by ensuring they can access specialist help from our partners., As the Indexer / Researcher, your key responsibility will be to index intelligence reports received by the GLAA from a wide range of sources. This will include linking reports to relevant entities (for example person, location, vehicle) within the intelligence database and categorising information.
The post holder will also be required to carry out both quantitative and qualitative research across a variety of databases and sources to support the Senior Analysts in producing a range of intelligence, analytical and policy products.
The role holder is responsible for:
+ Indexing intelligence reports received by the GLAA from a wide range of sources. This will include linking reports to relevant entities within the intelligence database and categorising information.
+ Supporting the Senior Intelligence Analysts with timely research using a range of methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative, to inform strategic, tactical, and operational intelligence and analytical products. Such products will contribute to understanding the nature and scale of labour exploitation across the UK and shape organisational priorities.
+ Conducting regular research across internal databases to identify any emerging risk areas in labour exploitation.
+ Conducting research from a variety of sources, utilising all available information to support the work of the GLAA Senior Policy Analyst.
+ Developing and maintaining professional relationships with researchers in law enforcement and other partner agencies., Interviews will take place w/c 16th December, subject to availability

+ Possessing excellent communication skills and be able to present research findings, both written and verbally, in a clear, professional manner to senior analysts.
+ Having a good level of competence in the use of relevant computer software packages and MS Office Suite.
+ Adhere to all legal frameworks, key working principles, and policies, relevant to the role., + Excellent attention to detail and a methodical working practice.
+ Proven experience of conducting both quantitative and qualitative research across several data sets, some of which may be complex.
+ Experience of reporting research findings proficiently, in both a written and verbal format.
+ Excellent IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
+ An effective team player experienced in working within a dynamic environment and having the ability to manage competing pressures in response to strict deadlines and changing priorities.
+ Experience of working within legislative frameworks and guidelines (e.g., Data Protection. IPA, RIPA, CPIA).
Desirable Criteria:
+ A degree with a research element, or significant practical workplace experience (min 2 years) of data across a variety of sources.
+ Previous experience of using iBase, i2 Analysts Notebook.
+ Experience of working within an intelligence and/or law enforcement/regulatory environment.
+ Familiarity with the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and the Code of Practice on the Management of Police Information.
