L3Harris MAPPS (Bristol, Burgess Hill and Barrow-in-Furness) provides an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for the Royal Navy sub-surface and surface fleets, notably current Astute submarine and Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers, in-build Type 26 and Type 31 frigates. This software provides integrated monitoring and control of ship propulsion, electrical functions, auxiliaries and damage control machinery and systems. The key purpose of the role is to provide an effective level of commercial support to the day-to-day operation of current programmes and bids within the business and help to ensure that all commercial interests of the business are protected and profitability is maximised within acceptable risk levels. Responsible for ensuring all business activities comply with applicable UK regulations and corporate policies. A few of our employee benefits - Half day finish on a Friday - 25 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays), increasing with long service and with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days - Private medical insurance with optional family cover - Pension scheme of up to 7% employer contribution - Life Assurance 4x salary (flexible up to 10x) - Group income protection - Flexible opt-in extras such as a health care cash plan, dental insurance, gym membership, critical illness cover and cycle to work scheme - Employee assistance program providing mental health and wellbeing support What the role will involve The responsibilities of your role will include the following: - Providing strategic input into contract and bid activities in line with business and functional objectives - Development of complex commercial proposals and contracting mechanisms - Providing commercial input into the cost estimating process and the development and management of pricing and cash flow models to meet customer requirements. - Sign off of bid/projects prices and obtaining corporate approvals in accordance with company delegations of authority - Identification and management of commercial risks to meet project commitments - Support to the Supply Chain team in relation to contractual terms and conditions and legal issues. - Manage the commercial elements of the contract change control process - Analysis and drafting of contract requirements and terms and conditions to ensure compliance with law and corporate policies - Develop negotiation strategies and support negotiations to ensure strategic business objectives are met - Negotiation and signature of Non-Disclosure Agreements, ensuring all company requirements are met - Contract administration of the allocated projects to maximize profitability and ensure timely achievement of project objectives - Provide contractual guidance to the project team and briefings on project commercial issues when required - Build effective commercial customer relationships and be the commercial focal point for allocated projects - Development of commercial processes and procedures within the business What you'll bring The role of Senior Contracts Officer requires the following experience and skills: - 6 years previous experience in a commercial role - Previous evaluation of commercial risks - In-depth knowledge of MoD contracting and procurement rules - Prioritise own workload and organise own time to achieve objectives - Seek to identify opportunities for continuous improvement - Proactive style and results driven - Strong presentation and communication skills - Ability to work with and deal with individuals at all levels of business both internally and externally - A high level of attention to detail - High standard of IT literacy including MS Office; particularly Excel Important to know Due to the nature of our work many our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
