About The Role
Are you looking to start your career in fire safety? As a Trainee Fire Servicing and Maintenance Engineer at LiveWest, you will work alongside experienced professionals to learn how to maintain, inspect, and install fire protection systems, including fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinkler systems, and emergency lighting. This hands-on role will help you develop the technical expertise to ensure safety for our customers and communities.
You will gain practical experience troubleshooting and resolving issues, all while adhering to the highest safety standards and regulations. With dedicated support and training, you will work towards competency within two years, gaining the skills needed to protect lives and properties.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with regular inspections and testing of fire alarms, extinguishers, and sprinkler systems.
2. Support the maintenance and repair of fire protection equipment under supervision.
3. Learn to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
4. Participate in the installation of fire protection systems, following design specifications and regulations.
5. Keep accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs, and contribute to reporting.
6. Gain knowledge of emergency response procedures and fire safety compliance.

This role is being offered on a full time basis working 40 hours per week. This is a mobile-based role and you must be based in the BS postcode area to be considered for this opportunity.

About The Candidate
To be successful in your application for the role of Trainee Fire Servicing and Maintenance Engineer, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills and experience:
1. A basic understanding of fire safety principles and mechanical skills.
2. An understanding of Health and Safety Legislation relating to the construction industry, including Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
3. Strong communication and problem solving abilities.
4. Full, valid UK driving licence.
5. Desirable: Relevant certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies), FIA (Fire Industry Association), or equivalent.
6. Desirable: Some basic technical and mechanical skills relevant to fire protection systems.
7. Desirable: An understanding of the fundamental principles of fire safety regulations and standards such as BS5839, BS5266 and BS7671.
8. Desirable: Practical experience of working in the construction industry and or in the Social Housing sector.
9. Desirable: Level 2 qualification in a construction field.
10. Desirable: Any Electrical qualifications, sprinkler systems, firefighting equipment, AOV training, door entry systems.
