Senior Clinical Fellow in Diabetes and Endocrinology
We have 1 fixed term appointment available for 12 months in the Diabetes & Endocrinology department. The post is full time, and the post holder will be expected to participate in the general medicine 16 week rolling Rota.
This is an excellent opportunity within Diabetes and Endocrinology along with General Medicine at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The post is particularly suited for those doctors considering a career in Diabetes and Endocrinology and in supporting their application to higher speciality training in the UK, by providing the required training for IM3 level competencies.
Main duties of the job
The junior doctors have responsibility for patients under the care of the Consultants. Supervision of the day-to-day care of inpatients will include investigation, treatment and follow up of patients, attending ward rounds and multi-disciplinary case conferences, clerking in patients, keeping adequate medical records, preparing discharge reports, assisting in outpatient clinics. Participation in medical audit and presenting cases in postgraduate teaching sessions are mandatory.
The post holder will plan and carry out dynamic endocrine testing such as water deprivation test, ITT, Cushing's protocol, 72 hours fast and other dynamic tests under the supervision of the consultants in the department. They will also have the opportunity to observe in the community diabetes clinics, subspecialty clinics and join a nationally winning award diabetes outreach team.

Person Specification
Previous Experience
* Experience of working in Acute General Medicine and Diabetes and Endocrinology
* Good range of experience in community diabetes and in patient and health care professional education
* NHS experience
Fitness to Practice
* Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation
Qualifications / Training
* Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council
* Advanced Life Support Certificate or equivalent
* MD or PHD
