About the Role Do you have a passion for digital content and a flair for creating engaging, accessible, and user-centred web experiences? Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Digital Content Specialist to join our Digital and Change team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with various internal stakeholders to develop and manage high-quality website content that meets the needs of our customers and drives our digital improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Content Management: Serve as the first point of contact for digital work requests. Manage, maintain, edit, and update web content ensuring it is accurate, creative, and written in plain English while adhering to established content guidelines. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to develop content that meets customer needs. Respond to inquiries from external stakeholders, customers, and partner agencies. Digital Monitoring and Support: Monitor website content using various tools to ensure compliance with best practice guidelines and legislative obligations. Support UX specialists with website and user testing to continuously improve digital services. Data Analysis and Reporting: Carry out data analysis and create insightful reports using tools such as Google Analytics and Hotjar. Administrative Support: Manage simple databases and provide essential administrative support for the team. Champion and support staff in taking an active role in digital content management. What We’re Looking For Essential Qualifications and Skills: Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills for web content. Strong understanding of the role of websites in digital marketing, web accessibility, and Search Engine Optimisation. Experience using a Content Management System and presenting information clearly in plain English. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Desirable Skills and Experience: A relevant qualification in Digital Marketing, User Experience, or a related field. Analytical skills, including data collection and analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making. Experience with wireframe design and creating visual mock-ups for user journeys. In-depth knowledge of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Experience using website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), SharePoint, and practical knowledge of Microsoft 365.
