Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Improvement Advisor to support service lines in the delivery and improvement of their services. This opportunity has arisen due to an investment for 2 years initially.
The improvement advisor will provide specialist quality improvement knowledge and expertise, tailoring plans and support for the unique challenges each service line has. They will support the movement of clinical audits to quality improvement projects and ensure sustainability of progress.
The Quality Improvement Advisor provides leadership to clinical teams within their nominated Service Lines to ensure delivery of effective and efficient programs to drive continuous improvements in healthcare service delivery. This post is one of four Quality Improvement Advisors who together are responsible for a broad portfolio of quality improvement initiatives and interactions across the Trust, embedding QI behaviours and skills.

The improvement advisors will be offered QSIR training and the opportunity to join the SLP QSIR faculty and support the facilitation of the Trust’s Psychological Safety programme.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will act as an initial contact for improvement and a source of expertise in making changes and aiming for high-quality services.
* This role will provide intensive support to service lines, providing in-depth knowledge about improvements and helping teams to develop change ideas and test out possible solutions. Using local data and dashboards, the improvement advisors can support staff to measure changes.
* Work with a range of stakeholders to ensure key areas are being addressed by building more co-production and co-produced projects.
* This in-depth work will create opportunities for teaching and development sessions, embedding learning and continuous improvements at a local level.

This site’s layout will be transformed by 2027 to create a new central plaza and café, plus modern facilities for five new wards. Tolworth has a canteen and is near shops, the A3, Tolworth station, and is a bus ride from Surbiton station, with fast connections to Clapham Junction and London Waterloo.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The improvement advisor will work with Senior Leadership and QSIR practitioners, providing specialist knowledge, coaching and implementing new processes, systems and projects.
The role will support the Trust's key organisational priorities ‘A great place to work’ and ‘Adult Patient Journey’.
A timely opportunity to build quality improvement capability with front-line staff, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.
Person specification
Training & Qualifications
* Master’s Degree or equivalent experience
* IHI, QSIR or other continuous improvement qualification.
* Advanced IT skills equivalent to the ECDL standard
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Willingness to complete a continuous improvement qualification.
Experience & Knowledge
* Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, familiarity
* Can flex between face-to-face meetings and virtual platforms
* Demonstrated experience working on a high-level strategic project
* Experience of applying continuous improvement methodology at multiple levels within an organisation.
* Previous experience of bringing innovation and new ideas to practice.
* Demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of a project (timelines, deliverables, meeting planning, marketing and communications, etc.)
* Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
* Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes
* Experience of providing supervision/coaching outside of the QII team.
* Knowledge of health promotion, quality improvement and measurement in healthcare
* Understanding of statistics and measurement for improvement
* Understanding of the public sector
